The Bookworm: ‘Skeletons in the Closet’ a suspenseful look at how we die (2008/07/25)
You try to do everything right. You eat from all the major food groups. You hit the gym regularly. You read the labels to make sure you’re not ingesting bad-for-you things. Bedtime is at the same time every night, you gave up smoking and drinking, and you buckle up when you get behind the wheel.

A bluff by any other name would be just as grand, but would the story behind it be as interesting?

The Bookworm: ‘Little House’ worth revisiting (2008/07/19)
Has your family ever moved? Even if it hasn’t, you know the drill. Your bed is taken apart, your clothes come out of the closet, and your stuff comes off the wall. All your belongings, including your favorite toys and books, are put in a box until you get to your new home.

I’m now reading a story on 'microblogs’ (2008/07/19)

Sedaris' new book reveals a more mature, thoughtful writer (2008/07/19)
OAKLAND, Calif. — Pick up David Sedaris' new book and you're staring at death. If the van Gogh painting of a skeleton gracing the cover doesn't say it clearly enough, the fact that the skull is smoking a cigarette should.

By the Book: “The Baseball Brothers” (2008/06/28)
Author: Anne Fredrickson About the book: “The Baseball Brothers” is a children’s book about the Fredrickson Brothers Baseball Team. The team, which played traveling amateur ball in the 1920s, was made up entirely of brothers. The book tells the true story of 12 brothers who played baseball together in the Lakeville, Minn., area in the 1920s. The team was made up of nine players, a batboy and two coaches, then aged 11 through 36. Through working together on the farm and playing together as a team, the brothers developed lifelong friendships. None of the brothers moved farther than 13 miles away from the farm where they were raised. In the book, a child tells of her grandfather’s days on the team. She tells of how the novelty drew fans from miles around on horseback and in old Model Ts. The story recounts the brothers’ most famous feats, including a game-saving tackle at home plate and an unlikely victory over a tough opponent.
