Teresa Rose Francisco Hegge
SPRING GROVE, Minn. — On Aug. 27, 2008, Teresa Rose Francisco Hegge’s struggle with cancer ended. For 81/2 years her struggle was steadfastly supported by friends, family and the personnel at Mayo Clinic. Teresa was grateful for this support.

Born May 29, 1963, in Anaconda, Mont., to Jack and Kathleen Francisco, Teresa lived in the Anaconda area for her entire youth, gracing the local parochial and public schools with her presence. Dance, 4-H and orchestra were among her favorite activities. Cruising around town in the bug with her pal, Patti Jo, was a high school highlight. While attending Montana State University she met Bruce Hegge, whom she later married. Her education continued at Mankato (Minn.) State University, where she received a bachelor’s of science degree and, in 1991, a master’s of science degree in speech language pathology. Teresa’s career in medical speech pathology encompassed positions in Minneapolis, the Detroit area, and facilities in southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. In 1995, her career as an educational speech pathologist in the Spring Grove and Caledonia, Minn., school systems provided a crossroads for her vocation and her heart.

Teresa is survived by her husband, Bruce Hegge of Spring Grove, where they have lived together since 1992; and her sons, Hank and Lance. Throughout her struggle with cancer, her family continued to be her top priority and her greatest source of inspiration. Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Jack Francisco. Other survivors include her mother, Kathleen Francisco of Anaconda; siblings, Michele and Doug Butori of Butte, Mont., Kathy Francisco and John Brown of Bozeman, Mont., and John Francisco, of Butte; in-laws, Janice and Owen Hegge of Spring Grove, Karin and Hiroshi Tanaka of Memphis, Tenn., and Sara and Darin Bratland of Spring, Minn.; 11 treasured nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Bob and Lynn Francisco of Anaconda, Maureen Lear of Fairfield, Mont., Farrell Gallagher of Las Vegas, Tom and Carol Gallagher of Butte, Trudy and Jerry Johnson, of Seneca, Wis., and Terrel Francisco of Hamilton, Mont.; and her tribe of warrior women.

Teresa’s wish was “Please do not send me flowers. Instead, do something kind for yourself or a loved one.”

Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.
