Having served on the Riverfest Board and before that as a La Crosse Jaycee raising money for the Fourth of July fireworks each year, I know how hard it is to raise the necessary funds to not only provide a good fireworks display, but keep Riverfest going.
The public needs to know that all the entertainment that is provided is not free and that all of the community organizations that provide manpower for Riverfest are compensated for their time and efforts. Where else can you be entertained and meet friends and family and celebrate our freedom for five days for the small price of a Riverfest button.
Thank you, Riverfest Board and commodores, and keep up the good work. It is great to have such a fantastic event in La Crosse for the Fourth of July holiday.
