Laura L. Erickson


LA FARGE, Wis. — Laura L. Erickson, 82, of La Farge died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby, Wis. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Seland-Huston Funeral Home, La Farge. Burial will be in Salem Ridge Cemetery, La Farge. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home. The Seland-Huston Funeral Home of La Farge is assisting the family with arrangements.

Willard J. Franke

VIROQUA, Wis. — Willard “Bill” John Franke, 92, of Viroqua died unexpectedly early Thursday morning, June 12, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Thorson-Reetz Funeral Home, Viroqua, with military rites. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the time of services at the funeral home.

Richard D. Haskey

Richard D. Haskey, 66, of La Crosse passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. Richard was born to Carlton and Viola (Mills) Haskey on Sept. 5, 1941, in Marseilles, Ill. He attended grade school in Endeavor, Wis., before moving to the Stoddard, Wis., area, where he graduated from De Soto High School. He married his wife, Patricia, on March 9, 1963, and they moved to Racine, Wis. They moved back to the La Crosse area in 1964, where they raised their two children, Michelle and Tracey.

Richard started S & H Construction with partner Harold Sloan and was a well-respected contractor for the next 30-plus years. He was a charter member of the La Crosse Area Home Builders Association and was president of the association in 1974 and 1975. He was a registered member of the 1988 National Home Builders Association. He participated in various charitable organizations over the years, including the YMCA Camp Radfield. He received a Certificate for Outstanding Citizenship from the La Crosse County Association for Retarded Children in 1978 and was also a “Jailbird” for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He was a member of the Eagles Local Aerie No. 1254 and past president in 1990. Richard was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. When he was younger, he loved hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He was an enthusiastic, wonderful person to know, and he loved family and friends. He will be missed by his family and all he came in contact with over the years.

Richard leaves behind his wife, Patricia (Robertson); two daughters, Michelle Wendtland (fiance’ the Rev. Domnik Israel) and Tracey (Steve) Boldon; five grandchildren, Tyler Wendtland and Zachary, Shawna, Chelsey and Noah Boldon; a sister, Donna Todd; a brother, Gary (Theresa) Haskey; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his pets, Foster, Brewster and Tiki. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Carolyn Kolbo; a brother-in-law, Howard Todd; and a nephew, William Hardiman.

Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Olivet Lutheran Church. Pastor David Baldukas will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. until the time

of services Thursday. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.

The family would like to thank the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Team and the staff at the hospital for the wonderful care he received before he passed on. Your caring touch made a difficult time more bearable.

Robert W. Hass

Robert W. Hass, 90, of La Crosse passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his home.

Services are pending and will be announced by Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse.

William J. Hirschuber

STODDARD, Wis. — William “Bick” J. Hirschuber Jr. died on Friday, July 11, 2008, in La Crosse. He was born in Stoddard on Jan. 13, 1932, to William J. and Daisy (Hart) Hirschuber. He married Margie Joseph in La Crosse on March 22, 1952.

Bick had been employed by the A.J. Sweet Co. of La Crosse for many years. He owned and operated Dick & Marge’s Tavern in Stoddard and Dugan’s Dugout in La Crosse, retiring after 29 years. Bick was a member of the Loyal Order of Eagles as well as the Stoddard-Bergen Fire Department. As a young man, he was a well-known and talented baseball player in the Coulee Region for 21 years. He was an avid Cubs and Packers fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. The river was his life, as he spent much of his time as a commercial fisherman and trapper. Bick was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Margie, Bick is survived by his two daughters, Tami (Randy) Hastings of La Crosse and Tanya (Bob) Juen of Stoddard; two sons, Terry (Kelley) Hirschuber of Onalaska, Wis., and Rick (Lorna) Hirschuber of Holmen, Wis.; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three sisters, Elsie (Jerry), Bev (Jim) and Carol; four brothers, Danny (Sandy), Jim (Charlene), Ray (Cheryl) and Les (Marian).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy and William, two sons, Tim and Bill Hirschuber, as well as four sisters, Judy, Mary, Fern and Alma; and an infant brother, George.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The Rev. Lawrence B. Berger will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family.

Reva L. Martin

WAUKON, Iowa — Reva L. Martin, 88, of Waukon died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Waukon. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon.

Douglas J. Oldenburg

Douglas J. Oldenburg, 76, of La Crosse died at his home Sunday, July 13, 2008. Services are pending and will be announced by Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse.

Deric O. Rhodaback

SPARTA, Wis. — Deric O. Rhodaback, 27, of Sparta died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at his home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta. Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.

James R. Schoolcraft

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. — James R. Schoolcraft, 89, of Black River Falls died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tomah, Wis. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Black River United Methodist Church, Black River Falls. Burial with military rites will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls and from noon until services at the church Wednesday. Memorials preferred. Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
