Robert ‘Bobby’ G. Arentz
GALESVILLE, Wis./LA CROSSE — Robert “Bobby” G. Arentz, 66, of Galesville, formerly of La Crosse, died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at his home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Woodruff-Jandt Funeral Home, La Crosse.

Edna A. Casberg

Edna Augusta Casberg, 98, of La Crosse passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center, La Crosse.

She was born April 16, 1910, in Chaseburg, Wis., to Otto and Mary (Krachel) Schlicht and moved to La Crosse in 1927. She was employed by the La Crosse Telephone Co. for many years. Edna was a volunteer for senior dining services and the chamber of commerce. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse and was a member of their Ladies Aid and OWLS. She was also a member of AARP.

Edna is survived by her children, Ann (William) Shely, Alice (Donald) Reinicke, John (Joanne) Casberg and Carl Casberg; nine grandchildren, William (Marta) Shely, Michelle (Scott) Horton, Jill (Dan) Fleming, Alan Reinicke, Christina (Glenn) Schilling, Eric (Erin) Reinicke, Lisa (Sidney) Chapon, Christine (Richard) Seelig and Jeffrey Casberg; 19 great-grandchildren, Even and Sophia Shely, Stephanie, Katie and Leah Horton, Shane and Matilda Fleming, Carmen, Danica and Ian Reinicke, Morgan and Chase Graff, Liam Reinicke, Caroline and Henry Chapon, Kimberly and Bryan Seelig and Julia and Ethan Casberg; a daughter-in-law, Rosemary Casberg; one niece, Virginia Mannstedt; and one cousin, Fred Krachel. Edna was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gladys Kopp.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Pastor Roger Sachs will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to First Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family with arrangements.

Edna’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center for the wonderful care given to Edna.

Joseph M. Dingeldein

STODDARD, Wis. — Joseph M. Dingeldein, 84, of Stoddard died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

He was born in La Crosse on Oct. 23, 1923, to Joseph and Hazel (Twite) Dingeldein. He married Charlene M. Taylor on Nov. 16, 1946, in La Crosse.

Joe graduated from Logan High School and then served with the Army Air Corps in India during World War II. He was later employed by La Crosse Trane Company for 36 years, retiring in 1987, and was a member of Trane Company 25 Year Club.

Joe’s great interest for many years was The Coulee Chordsman Barbershop Chorus, of which he was a member for 43 years. He was also honored with the Barbershopper of the Year award during his tenure with the chorus. Earlier in his life, Joe played softball for many years with several teams in the Trane League and also with church league teams. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and he was also an avid Cubs fan. Joe was also a longtime active member of the First Church of Christ in La Crosse.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene; his six children, Cinda Todd of La Crosse, Karen Brandt of Onalaska, Wis., James (Doris) Dingeldein of Black River Falls, Wis., Joseph (Linda) Dingeldein of Stoddard, Lynda (Dave) Meyer of Stevens Point, Wis., and Laurie (Joe) Duncan of La Crosse; his nine grandchildren, Scott (Jeanne Sands) Todd, Kristy (Colin) Finn, Jeffrey and Michael Brandt, Andrew (Kristie) Dingeldein, Jessica (Ben) Weinz, Sara Dingeldein, and Emily and Brian Duncan; and his nine great grandchildren, Taylor Todd, Cole, Autumn, Kylie and Jacob Finn, Jeffrey Brandt Jr., and Madyson, Riley and Carter Dingeldein. He is further survived by two sisters, Doris Hauser and Ruby (LaVerne) Thompson; many nieces and nephews; and all his Barbershop Chorus brothers. He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Church of Christ, 8th and Cass streets, La Crosse. Pastor Charles D. Robinson will officiate. Burial will take place in Chipmunk Coulee Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from noon Wednesday until the time of services at the church.

Pauline Belle Marsh Hammond

TRUMAN, Minn. — Pauline Belle Marsh Hammond, 88, of Truman died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Jones Harrison Residence, Minneapolis.

She was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Aberdeen, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Hammond.

She is survived by six children and their families: Willis Jr. (Bill) and Penny Hammond of Chatham, N.J., Mary and Tom Heller of Minneapolis, George and Sherry Hammond of La Crosse, Paul Hammond of Saudi Arabia, Margaret and Dan Green of Rockford, Minn., and Nancy and Brad Swanson of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pauline earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and sociology at Chapman College, Orange, Calif. An active member of Truman Church of Christ, she was organist and choir leader. She was a member of Farm Bureau and 4-H.

A private burial service for the family was Friday, June 27. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Truman Church of Christ. Lunch will follow. Memorial gifts are suggested to Truman Church of Christ, 401 Ciro St., Truman, MN 56088.

Clara L. Kessler

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis./AVOCA, Wis. — Clara L. Kessler (Moyer-Angelouplas), 91, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Avoca died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Prairie Maison Care Center, Prairie du Chien. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Prairie du Chien. Interment will be at a later date in Avoca Cemetery, Avoca. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

Myron Stanley Nestingen

BLAIR, Wis. — Myron Stanley Nestingen, 87, of Blair passed away after a battle with bone cancer and pulmonary fibrosis Saturday, July 5, 2008, in his home in Blair.

Myron was born Feb. 9, 1921, in rural Stoddard, Wis., the son of Ingar and Malla (Ambrosen) Nestingen. His boyhood years were spent in Coon Valley, Wis., and Westby, Wis., areas. He attended Westby High School and graduated from La Crosse Central High School, where he was on the starting five of the basketball team.

In 1946, he began farming in Blair with his dad.

On June 6, 1948, he married Edna Hagen in the Zion Lutheran Church in Blair. Shortly after his marriage, he was employed as a carpenter for a rail road company in North Dakota and Seattle, Wash.

In 1950, he returned to Blair to do what he liked best — farm — where he remained till his death.

His special interests were attending events of his children and grandchildren as well as enjoying basketball and football games. Other interests included reading his farm magazines and the Bible. Socializing with friends was his favorite pastime. Family events and reunions were very special to him.

He enjoyed traveling. His favorite trips were to the Scandinavian countries, various areas of Canada and the U.S., visiting his daughter, Marie, in the Peace Corps in Guatemala, Central America, was memorable. Having an exchange student from Mexico was an incentive to visit her home and family.

Myron was active in his farming community, having been a school member of Riverside School, 4-H leader, director of Pigeon Falls Creamery and later Director of Wisconsin Dairies, Baraboo, Wis., for 17 years. He was an FHA Committee man, Tri-State breeder’s delegate, on the ASC Committee and FFA Committee and also completed a five-year adult agriculture program.

Agriculture awards include: Trempealeau County Soil Conservation, Blair Progressive Farmer (two years) and Star Farm in 1988.

From 1980 till 2001 he served as town of Preston chairman.

Myron is survived by his wife, Edna; sons, Mark (Barbara Lynn) of Apple Valley, Minn., Keith (Barbara Jean) of Blair and Paul (Lisa) of Blair; daughter, Marie Nestingen of Wausau, Wis.; three grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie), Laura and Benjamin; two great-grandchildren, Braden and Bryson; one brother, Dale (Ruth) Nestingen of Westby; a sister, Elaine Cordes of Sequin, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wallace, Irvin, Donald and Pastor J.A. Nestingen; and two sisters, Evangeline and Marline (Robert) Behanna.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Blair, with the Revs. Mark Kvale, Rolf Nestingen and Dr. James Nestingen officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Dorothy Overson

Dorothy Overson, 92, of La Crosse and formerly of rural Chaseburg, Wis., died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse where she had been a resident for over eight years.

She was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Chaseburg to George and Elvina (Hohlfeld) Nygaard. She was baptized and confirmed at Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. Throughout her life she was involved with service to her church and circle and kept lifetime friendships with many of its members.

Dorothy married Paul Overson on Sept. 18, 1943, at Lower Coon Valley, and they lived on his family farm. She taught school at Hickory Ridge, rural Genoa, Wis., for a few years and later operated the Lutheran Bookstore in La Crosse for 20 years. Dorothy did many hours of volunteer work at Norskedalen and also at Gundersen Lutheran.

She will be sadly missed by her survivors; nieces, Judi (Keith) Powell, Sandy (Tom Olsen) and Jean Willinger; nephews, George Nygaard (Cathy Van Maren), Tom (Juanita) Gilbertson; sister-in-law Dorothy Nygaard; and her very close friends, including special friend, Arlene Kapanke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, in 1973; a sister, Eleanor (Bob) Marggi; and brother, Harvey Nygaard.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude to her “second family,” the staff at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center for all the special care and attention they gave to Dorothy during her stay with them.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Pastor Donald Fox will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley, Wis., and from 10 a.m. on Tuesday until services at the church. Memorials are preferred to Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church.

Lorraine A. Rybold

Lorraine A. Rybold, 82, died Sunday, July 6, 2008, in Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Dickinson Family Funeral Homes.

Irene K. Noelke Satory

Irene K. Noelke Satory, 97, died in her home Sunday, July 6, 2008. Funeral services will be in St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, La Crosse. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. A complete obituary will be provided by Dickinson Family Funeral Homes for Tuesday’s La Crosse Tribune.
