Pauline Belle Marsh Hammond
TRUMAN, Minn. Pauline Belle Marsh Hammond, 88, of Truman died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Jones Harrison Residence, Minneapolis.
She was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Aberdeen, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Hammond.
She is survived by six children and their families: Willis Jr. (Bill) and Penny Hammond of Chatham, N.J., Mary and Tom Heller of Minneapolis, George and Sherry Hammond of La Crosse, Paul Hammond of Saudi Arabia, Margaret and Dan Green of Rockford, Minn., and Nancy and Brad Swanson of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pauline earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and sociology at Chapman College, Orange, Calif. An active member of Truman Church of Christ, she was organist and choir leader. She was a member of Farm Bureau and 4-H.
A private burial service for the family was Friday, June 27. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Truman Church of Christ. Lunch will follow. Memorial gifts are suggested to Truman Church of Christ, 401 Ciro St., Truman, MN 56088.
Jack D. Knight
NORWALK/SPARTA, Wis. Jack D. Knight, 72, of rural Norwalk, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, in his home.
He was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Marquette, Iowa, to Oris and Audrey (Spores) Knight. He grew up in Marquette and moved to Janesville, Wis., when he was 18 years old.
Jack worked for General Motors for 30 years. He married the former Ilene Martin on June 14, 1980. After Jack retired, in 1984 they moved to Menagha, Minn. They lived there until 1994 when they moved to rural Norwalk.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. Jack was an avid sportsman. He loved animals.
He is survived by his wife, Ilene of rural Norwalk; children, Vickie (Scott Paape) Buhrow of Milton, Wis., Cheryl (James) Hanson of Edgerton, Wis., James (April) Knight of Westby, Wis., Julie (John Green) Jambois of Westby, Kevin (Jennifer) Knight of Westby, Tammy (Larry Kopchik) Knight of Hawk Run, Pa., and Keith (Brittney Fish) of Westby; stepchildren, Michael (Amy) DeWitt of Norwalk, Todd (Sonja) DeWitt of Melvina, Wis., Craig DeWitt of Onalaska, Wis., and Michelle (Bob) Walters of Cashton, Wis.; 28 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill (Betty) Knight of Edgerton, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Adam DeWitt; a brother, Winston Knight; and three sisters, Charlotte Tredt, Delores Ostoff and Helen Shaw.
Memorial services will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with the Rev. Randy Larson officiating.
